Partially grouted concrete masonry shear walls subject to in-plane shear load: a critical review

چکیده
abstract: Although structures have been built from masonry for many years, little is still known about the behaviour of a wall subject to in-plane shear. This particularly true partially grouted concrete masonry. The factors that are affect strength this type discussed with varying results and interpretations highlighted. There consensus increasing axial stress increases shear reduces ductility However, whether reinforcement (both horizontal vertical) contributes remains an issue debate, as effect aspect ratio. Most codes standards do not differentiate fully masonry, often over predicting latter. Wall versus panel failure considered. Much work needs be done improve our understanding material

Effect of Mortar Type on the Seismic Response of Partially Grouted Reinforced Masonry Shear Walls
Since the establishment of ASTM standard C91, masonry cement mortars have become widely used for masonry construction in low to moderate seismic regions. However, the Masonry Standards Joint Committee Code prohibits the use of masonry cement mortars in lateral force resisting systems for structures that fall into Seismic Design Categories D, E, and F. The general objective of this study is to e...
متن کاملShear and Flexural Stiffnesses of Reinforced Concrete Shear Walls Subjected to Cyclic Loading
Seismic analyses of concrete structures under maximum-considered earthquakes require the use of reduced stiffness accounting for cracks and degraded materials. Structural walls, different to other flexural dominated components, are sensitive to both shear and flexural stiffness degradations. Adoption of the gross shear stiffness for walls in seismic analysis prevails particularly for the design...
متن کاملSeismic Displacement Demands for Hybrid Precast Concrete Shear Walls
This paper presents an analytical investigation on the peak lateral displacement demands of “hybrid” precast concrete panelized shear wall structures under seismic loading. The hybrid wall structure investigated uses a combination of mild [i.e., Grade 400 (U.S. Grade 60)] steel bars and highstrength unbonded post-tensioning (PT) strands for lateral resistance across horizontal joints. The analy...
متن کاملA Study of the Progressive Degradation of Masonry Shear Walls Subjected to Harmonic Loading
This masonry research investigated the differences in the static and dynamic stiffness for the seismic range of loads and frequencies for a pressed clay masonry wythe. The effective stiffness has been defined in Newtonian physics and Damage Mechanics. This research used the concept of measured stiffness defined as the measured stress field divided by the measured strain field. A two-part test r...
متن کاملinvestigation on diagonal reinforced concrete shear walls behavior under cyclic lateral load using finite element method
buildings with wall or frame-wall systems are more effective against earthquake forces and sustain less damage than buildings which their lateral resistance is solely depends on frames. four reinforced concrete (rc) structural wall specimens were subjected to cyclic loading using finite elements method with abaqus software in order to study influence of diagonal web reinforcement. the research ...
